CASE
EVENT ANALYSIS SNEEKWEEK
PROJECT
The Sneekweek takes place in the city of Sneek, every year at the beginning of August. In addition to the daily sailing competitions, many festive activities are organized in the center of Sneek. In most inner cities, the number of events is increasing to create more liveliness. But how can an event be optimized to, for example, let entrepreneurs benefit from the large number of visitors also? The municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân asked Bureau RMC to support them in conducting annual research into visitor flows during Sneekweek.
APPROACH
Bureau RMC has measured footfall in the center of Sneek for many years using the CityTraffic method. Every year, this data is used to research how well the Sneekweek was attended.
- Have more people visited the entire event than in previous years?
- How do the visitor numbers spread out over the days that the event takes place?
- And how has footfall per half-hour developed in the various streets and squares?
RESULT
An extensive data report which enables the municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân to analyze the Sneekweek to determine the program for the next edition, based on this analysis.
